The Besenwagen is on the Volksbühne. The red carpet is rolled out for our fellow riders and of course for our guest. We are allowed to welcome Tom Dumoulin and ride a lap of honour with him through his career. The start is leisurely, picks up speed rapidly, then it gets bumpy and we abruptly turn into retirement. The mileage counts 22 victories in 11 years as a professional, including an overall victory in the Giro d’Italia, a world championship title, stage wins in all the big tours and, in addition to a 2nd place in the Tour de France, two silver medals at the Olympic Games.
